Nowadays, I spend almost 1.5 hours of my life on the local trains, as a part of my daily commute, so here are few of the things that go around me. A well-endowed motherly lady was complaining about how her son went to Dubai & spent every last rupee & didn’t even manage to find a decent job. She reported how her daughter who had just completed her education & is now of marriageable age, she lamented on the lack of eligible grooms..tch..tch. Her till now silent companion with a patient hear, nodded her agreement on this point after which they got into some long discussion on ‘how their generation had it good’. It was during this period a young boy entered the train with his wares which was a basket full of shopping cloth bags, foldable into a small purses which caught my interest. He made quite a few sales even at the price of Rs 100 which is expensive for a train-purchase. I had a tight schedule ahead of me so got back to pondering about it, when my thoughts were disturbed by a thin frail looking old lady sitting beside me ,who constantly nudged me with her bones, I felt a wave of pity after that for getting annoyed with her as she looked all alone, I wonder if her children had abandoned her? A well-dressed working lady is caught by a Ticket Checker without a ticket, she is given tough glances by rest of the passengers, I feel a wave of sympathy as she genuinely looks as though she forgot to extend her train pass, which does happen when you have a hectic schedule.... A kind smile from a stranger when I was alighting the train struggling with 2 bags, even in the crowded train leaves me with a pleasant feeling:):)
