Getting lost in an abyss of unknown structures & unfamiliar faces is something which many of us fear but can be thrilling. As a 7 year old I remember getting lost, when I let go of my mother’s hand in a crowded market place, on the way to the pediatrician. The thoughts were anxiety, fear of being kidnapped or murdered(yeah, had just begun seeing a horror series on television), never seeing the face of my parents again. I was almost on the verge of tears…but 10 minutes later, I see the familiar face of my dear mother only to be engulfed in a sea of arms a few seconds later.
Now I refer to getting lost without knowing where I am headed to in a new place fills my heart with a sense of glee. A modern organized city with its well-intended street signs, boards, maps ensures one is always in the know. The joys of discovering a place by chatting with its locals, wandering around unknown territory, exploring without a map are long gone. With the constant well-directed lives we live - with goals, to-do lists, schedules, reminders to keep a track of those schedules ensure we always know the future actions in case situations around us are those as forseen by us. We are prepared even for if-this-happens-then situations. Getting lost in unfamiliar surroundings breaks this rut . There is this challenge to either adapt to it or find your way out.
Another way of getting lost is immersing yourself in something you love or enjoy such that all your senses are devoted and you are oblivious to your surroundings. This happens when you are doing something on your hobbies list . A couple of hours pass-by & you don’t even realize. Once while travelling in a local bus I was enjoying listening to a an all time favourite track when the brakes were suddenly put I realized I had been singing-along aloud, my co-passengers were throwing amused looks my way…I was embarrassed.

Great post. I agree with every word. That's exactly how I live my life: always open to adventure, to the unfamiliar, to the unknown.
